As many of you know i’m leaving on Friday, and i would like to conclude the cycle about Turin with a small event on Tuesday, 15th February. I’ll be your mirror, by Nan Goldin, USA, one of the most influential photographers of our time, will be presented in Turin. This autobiographic documentary was realized in 1997 with the contribution of the British documentarist Edmund Coulthard and producted by Guido Costa Projects. The happening will take place at Museo Regionale di Scienze Naturali, in collaboration with PEPE photography, and after the documentary there will be a performance.
Do you remember I’ll Be Your Mirror? It was an intimate portrait of Nan Goldin’s life and work. The artist presented photos and videos from suburbia of Washington D.C., where she was born, of New York sauvage parties of 70ies and 80ies, and of the devastating impact of AIDS on her friends. As a sort of diary, she also presented interviews of her closest friends dealing with these problems. The soundtrack included beautiful tracks from The Velvet Underground, Television and Eartha Kitt. The film has been shown at Edinburgh International Festival, Berlin Film Festival, it won a prize from Prix Italy and a prize as best documentary at Montreal Festival of Films on Art.
